Capac earns mat victories at home

CAPAC — The Capac wrestling team improved to 9-2 this season and 6-0 as far as GTC clashes are concerned with a pair of wins at home last Wednesday night.
Capac got the two-match stint underway with a convincing 65-17 victory over Mayville.
Thomas Clowers, Connor Powers and Peyton Frankowiak led Capac with triumphs via the pinfall route. Clowers took 48 seconds to defeat Shane Miller at 48 seconds; Powers needed 5:23 to down 190-pound foe Justin Bodeis; and Frankowiak required 1:02 to beat Olive Dinsmore at 215 pounds.
Charles Leonard (106), Alberto Chapa (126), Ryan Grant (132), Ashton Frost (138), Seth Turner (144), Everett King (157) and Ava Klink (175) provided Capac with wins by void.
Cierra Helzer was the other Capac grappler who prevailed. Helzer picked up a 16-0 triumph against Timothy Venia at 113 pounds.
Capac also registered a 40-34 win over Memphis that evening.
A group consisting of Gabe Peters, Ryan Grant, King, Clowers and Frankowiak collected victories via the pinfall route for Capac. Peters took 23 seconds to turn back Daniel Rosenow at 106 pounds; Grant needed 1:17 to best 132-pound counterpart Matthew Bachellere; King required 4:38 to conquer Bryce Stirzinger at 157 pounds; Clowers took 3:39 to down 165-pound adversary Jack Tomaszek; and Frankowiak needed 3:32 to turn back Carter Long at 215 pounds.
Tyler McKenney (113) gave Capac a triumph by void.
Sam Schneider added a win by decision to Capac’s cause. Schneider outscored Brennan Borowski, 11-3, at 120 pounds.
