Johnson helps Red team prevail in Div. 3 MHSSCA All-Star Game

ALMONT— Almont’s Grace Johnson helped the Red squad defeat the White team, 10-2, in the Michigan High School Softball Coaches Association Division 3 All-Star Game last Wednesday afternoon.

Davenport University, in Grand Rapids, is where the action unfolded.

Johnson went two for three that day. Both of her basehits of the single variety.

She lined up defensively at an outfield position.

Lauren Creon, outfield, Richmond; Brooke Edgerly, outfield, Morley Stanwood; Lauren Steenstra, shortstop, Calvin Christian; Natalie Prophet, shortstop, Westwood; Camryn Jackson, first base, Saranac; Rhea Amrich, first base, Oscoda; Olivia Theut, second base, Richmond; Jade Garske, third base, Durand; Alea Fisher, second base, Buchanan; Jaydn Cary, catcher, Bronson; Isabel Henige, catcher, New Lothrop; Brooke Hunderman, pitcher, Calvin Christian; Mia Miller, pitcher, Kalkaska; Megan Houseman, third base/pitcher; and Abbey Halabis, pitcher, Cass City; Haley Newland, utility, Bad Axe; joined Johnson on the winning Red squad.

Almont’s Erik Johnson and Kalkaska’s Rick Ponstein coached the victorious Red squad.

The White team was coached by Millington’s Greg Hudie and Kingsley’s Jamie Hawkins.
