Imlay City football goes to 2-0 on season
IMLAY CITY — Imlay City turned back host Richmond, 14-10, in a Blue Water Area Conference varsity football game last Thursday.
With the decision, Imlay City moves to 2-0 and 1-0. Richmond slips to 0-2 and 0-1.
In Thursday’s game, Imlay City and Richmond ended quarter one with zero points each.
Richmond then outscored Imlay City 7-6 during quarter number two, good for a narrow one-point edge at the half.
When the action resumed, Richmond struck with a 3-0 third quarter advantage. That widened the gap to 10-6.
Imlay City then bounced back with an 8-0 third quarter edge, pulling out a 14-10 victory.
The winning side amassed their 14-point total aided by a Brady Homer two-yard touchdown run; and a Brady Homer two-yard touchdown run (followed by a Brady Homer PAT tote).
The Imlay City ground attack wound up with 125 yards on 46 totes. Brady Homer (34 rushes for 92 yards) and Danny Rojas (12 rushes for 33 yards) made that output possible.
Brady Homer (nine of 13 passes for 118 yards) and Brett Lestage (one of two passes for 13 yards) were the Imlay City players who opted to air out the football.
Lestage (five catches for 87 yards), Bryce Homer (three receptions for 23 yards), Trystan Whiting (three catches for 13 yards) and Rojas (one reception for eight yards) accounted for Imlay City’s catches.
Jackson Hill (six) plus Bryce Homer and Rojas (four each) supplied Imlay City’s highest tackle outputs.
Lestage added an interception to Imlay City’s cause.
Imlay City returns to action this Friday when it travels to Cros-Lex. That matchup lists a 7 p.m. starting time.
