Wetzel on Silver Division champs

IMLAY CITY — The Foutch Red 16U baseball squad, which counts Imlay City’s Griffin Wetzel among their ranks, went 3-2 en at the Kent State Top Gun World Series this past week.

The team began tournament action Thursday with a 9-l loss to Home Field 17U.

Foutch Red 16U followed it up Friday with an 8-2 setback to Ohio Wildcats 17U.

Both of those encounters were hosted by Mount Union College.

Foutch 16U then bounced back Saturday with 15-3 win against CLE Nighthawks 16U and a 10-3 victory over Lakeshore Admirals 16U.

That closed out the pool play portion of the event, leaving them as the fifth seed out of nine teams.

They then wrapped up tournament action Sunday with a 5-3 triumph against US Elite Scout Team 16U, assuring themselves of the distinction of Silver Division champs.

The last three games were all at Kent State University.
