Dryden wins title, heads to regionals

DRYDEN — Dryden breezed to a 12-1 victory over Byron in the title tilt of a Division 4 baseball district last Saturday.

Genesee High School is where the action unfolded.

With the result, Dryden (14-6) advances to Wednesday’s regional at Marlette. There they square off against Kingston in a contest slated to get underway at 5 p.m.

Ian Tresnak (two singles and a triple), Aiden Furneaux (three singles) along with Rowan Handley, Jayden Stankevich and Santiago Perales (a single each) generated Dryden’s hits during the title tilt.

Tresnak and Furneaux shared the pitching responsibilities for Dryden. They allowed four total hits, struck out nine and walked four over the five-inning distance.

Earlier that day, Dryden registered a 10-0 triumph against Genesee Christian.

A group consisting of Tresnak (four singles), Furneaux (a single and a double) plus Aiden Dunney, Handley, Stankevich and Perales (a single apiece) provided Dryden’s hits.

Tresnak was the winning Dryden pitcher. He gave up no hits over five innings, struck out 10 and walked two.
