Spartans sixth, Raiders share a seventh place

Almont’s Eva Rayl took second in her flight at Thursday’s regional.

TRI-CITY AREA — Imlay City girls’ tennis squad generated seven points and Almont managed six, paving the way to respective showings of sixth and a two-way tie for seventh last Thursday at a Division 3 girls’ tennis regional in Holly.

The first doubles team of Danica Sisk and Jordyn Chandler led Imlay City that day. They reached their flight’s semifinal round before bowing out.

Lyla Russell (first singles), Alejandra Munoz (third singles), Mckenzie Chaundy (fourth singles), Sara Belleville and Kendall Jones (second doubles) plus Elliana D’Ambrosio and Meghan Delong (third doubles) reached the quarterfinal round of their respective flights, then exited with a loss.

Eva Rayl headlined for Almont that day. The second singles performer reached her flight’s title match, settling for a second there.

Liv Moussiaux (fourth singles) provided Almont with a semifinal appearance, before exiting with a loss.

Gloria Tosetti (first singles), Norah Bishop (third singles) along with Alivia Hannaford and Grace Hettinger fourth doubles) added quarterfinal appearances to Almont’s cause.
