Imlay City bows out in title game, 42-33
Bruyere scores 27 for Spartans, team finishes with 11-13 mark
IMLAY CITY — The Imlay City girls’ basketball squad completed their season with a 42-33 setback to Yale in a Division 2 district championship confrontation it hosted last Friday night.
With the outcome, Yale moves to 21-3 overall. Imlay City finishes as owners of an 11-13 mark.
In Friday’s confrontation, Imlay City grabbed a 9-7 edge after one quarter was over and widened the gap to 16-13 at the halftime break.
When the action resumed, Yale bounced back with a 6-5 third quarter advantage. That closed their deficit to 21-19 with 24 minutes gone.
Yale then outscored Imlay City 23-12 the rest of the way, registering a 42-33 triumph.
For Imlay City, Alexis Bruyere led the way with 27 points. Mackenzie Bruyere, Macie Stine and Allison Shafer added two points each to the Spartans’ cause.
