Cros-Lex outlasts Imlay City, 63-57

IMLAY CITY — Imlay City bowed out of postseason play with a 63-57 overtime loss to Cros-Lex in a Division 2 boys’ district basketball semifinal battle last Wednesday night.

Yale High School is where the game was contested.

With the outcome, Cros-Lex moves to 18-5 overall. Imlay City watches a 16-7 season reach an endpoint.

In Wednesday’s battle, Imlay City took a 17-11 edge after one quarter was complete.

The next two quarters saw Imlay City generate 22 total points and Cros-Lex hit for 21. That left them holding a 39-32 advantage with 24 minutes elapsed.

Cros-Lex countered with a 20-13 fourth quarter advantage, making it 52-52 at the end of regulation play.

They then outscored Imlay City 11-5 during overtime, pulling out a 63-57 victory.

For Imlay City, Isaac Sommer and Jalen Gauthier led the way with 14 points apiece. The Spartans also had Lavon Edwards (nine points), Brady Detwiler eight), Sam Edson (seven), Hudson Everhart and Xavier Galeana (two each) along with Trystan Whiting (one) reach the scoring column.
