PUBLIC HEARING
Imlay City Planning Commission will hold a public hearing at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at the City Hall located at 150 N. Main Street. The public hearing is to consider a text amendment initiated by the Planning Commission. In Sec. 1.22 Definitions W-Z remove the definition of small, medium, and large wind energy system which would prohibit and be deemed not appropriate in the City. In Sec. 2.25 we modified to add nursery, pawn shop, wholesale sales, small scale production, restaurant carry-out, drive in restaurants, food trucks, restaurant open front window, RV park, video arcade, temporary uses, landscaping establishments, skilled trade showroom/office, warehouses, mini-storage warehouse or facility to be clearly listed as allowed as either permitted, conditional land use, and special land uses in the City’s commercial zoning districts (OS-1 Office, B-1 Local Business, B-2 Central Business, B-3 General Business), modify special land uses to be permitted for banks with drive-up ATM and urgent care centers in various commercial zoning districts, clarify adult entertainment regulated uses are a special land use in B-3, and add senior housing independent and dependent care, and animal grooming as a permitted use in B-3. In Sec. 5.44(b)11 to add the requirement to clarify food trucks must get a peddler license thru the Clerk’s office to operate.
This meeting is open to the public. Anyone wishing to comment on this item but is unable to attend the meeting may send their comments in writing to the City of Imlay City, Planning Commission, 150 North Main Street. Written public comments need to be submitted by Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. A copy of the text amendment is available at the Imlay City Hall between 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.
