Chiefs open its season with wins

CAPAC — The Capac wrestling team opened their 2025-26 campaign with a pair of Big Thumb Conference wins last Wednesday at home.

Capac started things off with a 75-6 victory over Bad Axe.

Mylla Vigiletti, Aberto Chapa, Preston Vamvas and Zachary Stroup led Capac with triumphs via the pinfall route. Vigiletti took 1:40 to stop GracelynStimett at 120 pounds; Alberto Chapa required 23 seconds to turn back 132-pound foe Trent Pawlowski; Vamvas needed 45 seconds to down Kendra Long at 150 pounds; and Stroup took 3:02 to beat 165-pound counterpart Grant Smith.

Isabella Chapa (106), Gabe Peters (113), Sam Schneider (138), Liam Powers (144), Michael Shoenberg (190), Peyton Frankowiak (215) and Connor Powers (285) provided Capac with wins by void.

Jake Barbier gave Capac a victory via technical fall, accomplishing the feat with a 19-2 victory over Andrick Marks at 126 pounds.

Thomas Clowers was the other Capac grappler who prevailed. He handed Ian Harris a 17-7 setback at 175 pounds.

Capac then wrapped up their two-match stint with a 74-6 triumph against Marlette.

Isabella Chapa and Stroup paced Capac with wins by pin. The former required 3:29 to best 106-pound adversary Jacobi Outman and the latter needed 1:43 to defeat Lucas Hascall at 165 pounds.

Peters (113), Alberto Chapa (132), Vamvas (144), Liam Powers (150), Nathan Macker (157), Clowers (175), Schoenberg (190), Frankowiak (215) and Eduardo Uribe (285) reigstered victories by void for Capac.

Schneider provided Capac with a triumph by technical fall, making Walker Chapin absorb a 20-4 loss at 138 pounds.

Vigiletti was the other Capac grappler who emerged victorious, handing 120-pound foe Kaylee Byars a 2-1 setback.
