Battanis excel at Meijer State Games
ALMONT — Almont’s Payton, Bryson and Mila Battani notched a pair of placewinning track performances each at the recent Meijer State Games of Michigan.
East Kentwood High School hosted the meet on Saturday, June 21.
Competing in the 12-13 age group, Payton won the pole vault with a performance of 9 feet.
He also placed first with a 55-meter hurdle clocking of 9.97 seconds.
Participating in the 7-9 age group, Bryson posted a pacesetting pole vault clearance of 7 feet 9 inches.
He also was second among long jump contestants, registering a performance of 11 feet 1/2 inch.
Competing in the 7-9 age group, Mila won the pole vault with a clearance of 3 feet 6 inches.
She also took second with a long jump effort of feet 8 feet 2 inches.
