All-Area baseball team is chosen

TRI-CITY AREA — From the first pitch until the final out, these players set the standard for excellence with their respective performances on the field.

Here is a look at who earned a spot on the 2025 edition of the Tri-City Times All-Area baseball squad and the numbers they generated en route to those accolades:

Brody Tesnow, Capac, pitcher/third base.

Record: Tesnow posted a 6-3 mark, with a 2.12 ERA, during the 2025 campaign.

In 56 innings of work, Tesnow allowed 56 hits, struck out 66 and walked 17.

Batting average: Tesnow completed the season with a .460 average. That ranked him first on the Capac squad and second among Tri-City Times All-Area first team honorees.

The junior generated 29 singles and 11 doubles in 87 at bats.

He also conttributed 28 runs, 20 RBIs and 12 walks to Capac’s cause.

This was his third year on Capac’s squad.

Post season honors: Tesnow ended the season as an All-Big Thumb Conference Black Division, All-District and All-Region selection.

Ian Tresnak, Dryden, pitcher/shortstop.

Record: Tresnak put together a 4-3 record, including a 3.73 ERA, this spring.

In 60 innings of work, Tresnak gave up 58 hits, struck out 86 and walked 38.

Batting average: Tresnak produced a .487 average, leaving him first on the Dryden squad and out of those who attained Tri-City Times All-Area first team status.

The senior supplied -32 singles and five (doubles, triples and a home run) in 76 at bats.

He also provided Dryden with 29 runs, 14 RBIs and nine walks.

This was his third year on Dryden’s squad.

Postseason honors: Tresnak wrapped up the season as an All-Big Thumb Conference Blue Division first team selection as an infielder and an honorable mention choice as a pitcher.

Jason Lane, Almont, pitcher/infielder.

Lane furnished a 3-3 mark, with a 2.53 ERA, during the 2025 campaign.

In innings 44 2/3 of work, Lane allowed 49 hits, struck out 39 and walked 23.

Batting average: Lane finished the season with a .287 average. That ranked him sixth on the Almont squad and 14th among Tri-City Times All-Area first team honorees.

The senior provided 20 singles and two doubles in 77 at bats.

He also contributed 17 RBIs to Almont’s cause.

This was his fourth year on Almont’s squad.

Postseason honors: Lane concluded the season as an All-Blue Water Area Conference honorable mention pick.

Tyler Brown, Almont, third base.

Batting average: Brown managed a .318 average, leaving him fifth on the Almont squad and 12th out of those who attained Tri-City Times All-Area first team status.

The senior had 21 singles and six doubles in 85 at bats.

He also provided Almont with 18 runs, 13 RBIs and six walks.

This was his second year on Almont’s squad.

Postseason honors: Brown ended the season as an All-Blue Water Area Conference honorable mention selection.

Wiley Roose, Capac, catcher/third base.

Roose concluded the season with a .384 average. That ranked him fourth on the Capac squad and seventh among Tri-City Times All-Area first team honorees.

The junior collected 30 singles, two doubles, and one home run in 86 at bats.

He also contributed 19 runs, 19 RBIs and 16 walks to Capac’s cause.

This was his third year on Capac’s squad.

Postseason honors: Roose finished the season as an All-District choice and an All-Big Thumb Conference Black Division second team pick.

Blake Lane, Almont, catcher, shortstop/outfielder.

Lane supplied a .368 average, leaving him third on the Almont squad and ninth out of those who attained Tri-City Times All-Area first team status.

The sophomore provided 31 singles, three doubles and one triple in 95 at bats.

He also contributed 27 runs, 11 walks and five RBIS to Almont’s cause.

This was his second year on Almont’s squad.

Postseason honors: Lane finished the season as an Al-Blue Water Area Conference first team pick and All-District selection.

Owen Gall, Dryden, catcher.

Gall produced a .406 average, leaving him second on the Dryden squad and fourth out of those who attained Tri-City Times All-Area first team status.

The senior supplied 20 singles, seven doubles and one triples in 69 at bats.

He also provided Dryden with 16 RBIS, 13 runs and 13 walks.

This was his fourth year on Dryden’s squad.

Postseason honors: Gall wrapped up the season as an All-Big Thumb Conference Blue Division second team pick.

Alan Uribe-Arce, Capac, shortstop/third base/pitcher.

Uribe-Arce supplied a .403 average this spring. That ranked him third on the Capac squad and fifth among Tri-City Times All-Area first team honorees.

The senior wound up with 29 singles and two doubles in 77 at bats.

He also provided Capac with 23 RBIS, 22 runs 14 walks.

This was his third year on Capac’s squad.

Postseason honors: Uribe-Arce concluded the season as an All-Big Thumb Conference Black Division second team selection.

Sam Edson, Imlay City.

Edson managed a .292 average this spring. That ranked him fourth on the Imlay City squad and 13th among Tri-City Times All-Area first team honorees.

The junior wound up with 20 singles, five doubles and a triple in89 at bats.

He also provided Imlay City with 27 runs, 14 walks and seven RBIS.

This was his third year on Imlay City’s squad.

Postseason honors: Edson finished the season as an All-Blue Water Area Conference first team pick.

Brock Murphy, Almont, second base.

Murphy furnished a .380 average this spring. That ranked him second on the Almont squad and eighth among Tri-City Times All-Area first team honorees.

The freshman collected 24 singles and three doubles in 71 at bats.

He also provided Almont with 17 RBIS, 14 runs and seven walks.

Postseason honors: Murphy ended the season as an All-District pick.

Aaron Coltson, Capac, outfield/designated hitter.

Coltson wound up with a .444 average, leaving him second on the Capac squad and third out of those who attained Tri-City times All-Area first team status.

The sophomore managed 27 singles and five doubles in 72 bats.

He also contributed 21 RBIS, 18 runs and 12 walks to Capac’s cause.

This was his second year on Capac’s squad.

Postseason honors: Coltson wrapped up the season as an All-Big Thumb Conference first team choice and All-District pick.

Luke Winkler, Almont, centerfield.

Winkler furnished a .387 average, leaving him first on the Almont squad and sixth out of those who attained Tri-City Times All-Area first team status.

The senior collected 21 singles, eight doubles and one triple in 75 at bats.

He also contributed 16 runs, 14 RBIS and 10 walks to Almont’s cause. This was his third year on Almont’s squad.

Postseason honors: Winkler ended the season as an All-Blue Water Area Conference first team selection and All-District choice.

Brzndon Szuch, Capac, centerfield/pitcher.

Szuch furnished a .333 average this spring. That ranked him sixth on the Capac squad and tied for tied for 10th among Tri-City Times All-Area first team honorees.

The senior had 20 singles and three doubles in 69 at bats.

He also provided Capac with 28 runs, 24 walks and 15 RBIS.

This was second year on Capac’s squad.

Postseason honors: Szuch completed the season as an All-Big Thumb Conference Black Division second team choice.

Jayden Stankevich, Dryden, centerfield.

Stankevich posted a .333 average, leaving him sixth on the Dryden squad and tied for 10th out of those who attained Tri-City Times All-Area first team status.

The junior generated 19 singles and two doubles in 63 at bats.

He also provided Dryden with 22 runs, 15 RBIS and 15 walks.

This was his third year on Dryden’s squad.

Postseason honors: Stankevich wrapped up the season as an All-Big Thumb Conference Blue Division second team choice.

Second team- Dalton Oliphant, Almont, pitcher; Aiden Furneaux, Dryden, pitcher/shortstop; Trace Dennis, Imlay City, catcher; Brady Detwiler. Imlay City, designated hitter/second base; Santiago Perales, Dryden, third base; Axel Demaray, Capac, shortstop/second base/pitcher; Rowan Handley, Dryden, second base; Austin Howard, Capac, first base/pitcher; Jacob Voelker, Almont, first base; Tim Miller, Almont, outfield; and Jacob Clowers, Capac, outfield, pitcher.

Honorable mention- Griffin Wetzel, pitcher/shortstop; Landon Swain, Almont, infield/outfield and pitcher; Vinnie Guerin, Imlay City, pitcher/outfield; Keigan Scott, Imlay City, first base/designated hitteer; and Colten Karbel, Almont, outfield.

Coach of the Year- For directing Capac to a 16-10-2 overall mark, including a third-place showing among Big Thumb Conference Black Division teams, Nick Geliske earns Tri-City Times All-Area Coach of the Year accolades.
