Raider girls excel at SVSU meet

ALMONT — The Almont girls’ track squad generated 22 top-50 showings at the SVSU Division 3 and 4 Indoor Invitational last Thursday.

No team scores were kept at the meet.

Lauren Webster headlined for Almont that day. Her high jump clearance of 4 feet 8 inches paid off with a fourth.

Lola Battaglia provided Almont with a 200 dash clocking of 28.24 seconds en route to a fifth and posted a 60-meter dash time of 8.59 seconds for sixth.

Lilylyn Martin, pole vault, 7 feet; contributed a share of a seventh to Almont’s cause.

Madison Niedermaier, long jump, 13 feet 7 inches; gave Almont a ninth.

Laila Evola, 1600 run, 6:22.50; furnished an outright individual event 10th for Almont.

The Almont 2400-meter relay of Carlie Johnson, Greta Schwarberg, Charlotte Verougstraete and Evola were 10th as well. They managed an 8:37.77 clocking en route.

Niedermaier, pole vault, 7 feet; supplied Almont with a share of a 10th.

Lillian Longo, 2000 dash, 29.6 seconds, 14th; Sam Miodowski, shot put, 26 feet 1 inch, 15th; Melina Campbell, 60 hurdles, 11.82 seconds, 19th; Amanda Fitchett, 1600-meter run, 7:13.95, 19th; the Almont 1200 relay of Serena Evola, Longo, Campbell and Schwarberg, 3:31.8, 20th; Verougstraete, 1600-meter run, 7:31.61, 24th; Johnson, 800 run, 3:24.08, 31st; Schwarberg, 400-meter dash, 1:15.53, 32nd; Martin, 400 dash, 1:16.56, 33rd; Serena Evola, 60-meter hurdles, 14.2 seconds, 35th; Emmerson Sullivan, 800 run, 3:48.03, 36th; Webster, 200-meter dash, 31.09 seconds, 38th; and Genesis Fisher, 60 dash, 9.59 seconds, 44th; added top-50 showings as well.
