Almont nets first win of the season

ALMONT — Almont saw to it they would prevail, earning a 40-29 road win against Parkway Christian in a non-conference varsity girls’ basketball meeting Monday night.

With the decision, Almont improves to 1-5 overall. Parkway Christian falls to 2-6 this season.

In Monday’s matchup, Almont grabbed a 13-10 edge after one quarter was complete and widened the gap to 27-14 at the halftime break.

Almont then withstood a 15-13 final half rally, leaving with a 40-29 victory to their credit.

Madi Derk (16 points, including a pair of trifectas) led Almont that evening. The Raiders also had Rachael Johnson (10 points, featuring two treys), Vivian Asaro (eight, with a triple) and Gabby Carlson (six) reach the scoring column.
