Reflect on your blessings and gather with loved ones

Merry Christmas!

The skies are grey, the coffee is brewing, and the lights are twinkling from the tree in the neighbor’s window.

The Christmas season is upon us. This is a time of expectation.

For many of us, the Christmas season has always been a time to gather with family, spend time with loved ones, reflect on the blessings we’ve received, and give thanks for the hope that the birth of Christ brings to the world.
There is no doubt
that this has been a year filled with challenges.

Yet, the message of Christmas remains a beacon of light and a reminder of the peace that Jesus offers to all of us.

Maybe you’ll enjoy Christmas day surrounded by fields that are covered in snow, or you might have to fight the traffic to reach your family gatherings.

For all of us, the story of that first Christmas continues to echo to each generation.

The communities here are special – where neighbor helps neighbor, and the warmth of a close-knit community can be felt in every handshake.

Let’s not forget as we look at the festive lights and decorations that the true light of Christmas shines not in the decor, but in the love we share with one another.

The Christmas story is, at its heart, about God’s great love for us -a love that entered into the world in the most humble of ways.

Jesus was born in a manger, and He came not to be served, but to serve.

Churches throughout the region are preparing for Christmas Eve services. This is also a good time for each of us to prepare our own hearts.

Our towns are a reflection of our homes. Whether it’s through a kind word to a neighbor, a visit to someone who is lonely, or a generous act for someone in need, we each have the opportunity to be a light to those around us, just as Christ was a light to the world.

Finally, I want to encourage you to join in the journey of generosity. Let’s be generous not only of our finances, but also of our time, our encouragement, and our prayers.

In doing so, we continue the work of Christ in our communities, shining His light in places where it’s needed most.

May you have a blessed Christmas filled with hope, love, and peace.
