Imlay City cruises past Genesee

IMLAY CITY — The Imlay City varsity girls’ basketball squad rolled to a convincing 59-37 victory over Genesee at the Hardwood Invitational it hosted last Saturday.

With the outcome, Imlay City moves to 1-2 overall.

In Saturday’s matchup, Imlay City took a 15-14 edge after one quarter was over with and increased their cushion to 31-24 at halftime.

When play resumed, Imlay City picked up where it left off. Aided by a 14-3 third quarter advantage, the Spartans went ahead 45-27 with 24 minutes elapsed.

Imlay City then outscored Genesee 14-10 the rest of the way, putting the finishing touches on a 59-37 victory.

Montanna Eads (12), Alexa Lengemann (11) plus Makayla Phillips and Reese Schmidt (10 each) paced Imlay City with double digit point totals. They were backed by Addison Cameron (nine points), Alexis Bruyere (six) and Lauryn Donahue (one).
