Spartans claim BWAC for ninth straight time

TRI-CITY AREA — The Imlay City boys’ soccer team (no. 4, Division 3) claimed their ninth straight Blue Water Area Conference top finish, accomplishing the feat with a 3-2 triumph against host Almont last Wednesday.

With the outcome, Imlay City goes to 18-3 and concludes BWAC play at 14-0. Almont slips to 11-5-1 and 11-3-1.

Benino Barragan (assisted by Christopher Galiana), Diego DeLuca (set up by Sebastian Salcedo) and Nery Vega (unassisted) provided Imlay City’s goals.

Max Galiana got the win in net for Imlay City. He registered nine saves.

Gio Cardona (via a penalty kick) and Tyler Brown (set up by Bashkim Sinishtaj) accounted for Almont’s goals.

Owen Rayl handled the goalkeeping responsibilities for Almont. He finished with 10 saves.
