Blacks Corners gets facelift, new asphalt

IMLAY CITY — Work crews with T.G. Priehs Asphalt company were hard at it Thursday, applying the new asphalt on Blacks Corners Road from the CN Rail train tracks north to Imlay City Rd.

Imlay City DPW Supervisor Ed Priehs said the work was badly needed and most likely wouldn’t have been done, had it not been for partial State funding. He said the State has a special program for local roads to help communities with paving projects and other work.

Imlay Twp. officials decided to work in a collaborative effort with the city and agreed to have the remaining roadway, where the city limits stops (just over 300 feet) paved while the work was being done.

Once the work is completed, Blacks Corners, from Old M21 to the train tracks will have a new asphalt base.
