Nestle, Schneider named as coach
Capac names dual to co-varsity football top positions

CAPAC — When the 2024 gridiron regular season campaign begins in a little over a week from now Capac will have a pair of familiar faces directing their varsity program, that is because Bill Nestle and Troy Schneider have been named to hold down those sideline duties.
They take over the post from Rob Novy, who stepped down from the job at the completion of the 2023 campaign.
Nestle is a 24-year veteran of the Capac school system, serving as a teacher and holding down several coaching positions during that stretch.
Last year he was an assistant coach with Capac’s varsity program.
He also coached the school’s junior high wrestling program.
Schneider is no newcomer to Capac’s school system either. Like Nestle, he has been around for 24 years in a teaching and coaching capacity.
He served as last year’s junior varsity football assistant coach plus was an assistant coach for the Capac varsity boys’ golf team.
Nestle and Schneider will look to turn things around after Capac went 1-8 overall, including a 0-6 showing versus Greater Thumb Conference East Division foes (good for seventh place) a year ago.
The team will look to bounce back when they open the 2024 campaign Thursday, August 29 when it entertains non-league foe Caseville. That matchup lists a 7 p.m. starting time.
