Spartans second at Lapeer Tourney

IMLAY CITY — The Imlay City varsity boys’ soccer squad kicked off their season with a second-place finish last Saturday at the Lapeer Tournament.

Imlay City started things off with a 4-1 win against Goodrich.

Diego DeLuca (set up by Sebastian Salcedo), Xavier Galeana (assisted by DeLuca), Nery Vega (set up by Xavier Galeana) and Giovani Franco (unassisted) furnished Imlay City’s goals.

Max Galiana got the win in net for Imlay City. He finished with four saves.

Imlay City then improved their tournament mark to 2-0, picking up a 1-0 victory over Stoney Creek.

Galeana (set up by Salcedo) accounted for the lone Imlay City goal.

Galiana drew the goalkeeping assignment for Imlay City. He wound up with three saves.

Imlay City followed it up with a 3-0 setback to Lapeer, leaving them with a second to show for their efforts.

Galiana handled the goalkeeping responsibilities for Imlay City. He managed seven saves.

With the results, Imlay City now stands at 2-1 for the 2024 campaign.
