Almont brings home a top finish

ALMONT — The Almont baseball team posted a 2-0 mark en route to a first-place finish last Saturday at the Marlette Tournament.
Almont started things off with a 12-1 win against Deckerville.
Almont then closed out a successful tournament run with a 15-1 triumph against Marlette, assuring themselves of a top finish.
Tyler Brown (three singles), Tim Miller (a single and a double) and Jason Lane (two singles) led Almont with multiple-hit performances. They were backed by Blake Lane, Dalton Oliphant and Zack Koval (a double each) along with Ayden Ferqueron (a single).
Lucas Mantini and Ferqueron shared the pitching responsibilities for Almont. They allowed one total hit, struck out 12 and walked four.
Almont then followed it up with a 15-1 victory over Marlette, assuring themselves of a top finish.
Blake Lane (two singles and a double) plus Ferqueron and Mantini (two singles apiece) paced Almont’s offensive attack. Jason Lane (a double) along with Austin Swain and Miller (a single each) supported their performances.
Oliphant and Koval shared the pitching responsibilities for the victorious Almont side. They gave up one total hit, struck out nine and walked five.
