Imlay City football team improves to 5-1 on season 

IMLAY CITY — Imlay City registered a 20-7 road triumph against Armada in a Blue Water Area Conference varsity football battle last Friday night.

With the decision, Imlay City improves to 5-1 and 4-1. Armada slips to 3-3 and 2-3.

In Friday’s battle, Imlay City spotted Armada a 7-0 edge after one quarter was over.

Quarter two would see Imlay City bounce back, outscoring Armada 20-0.

The remaining two quarters proved scoreless, leaving Imlay City a 20-7 triumph to celebrate at night’s end.

Imlay City produced their winning 20-point total aided by a Daniel Rojas one-yard touchdown run (followed by a successful extra point kick courtesy of Max Galiana); a Cash Young to Brett Lestage 66-yard touchdown pass (followed by an accurate extra point boot by Galeana); and a Lestage 77-yard interception return for a touchdown).

For the night, Young completed one of four pass plays or 66 yards as Imlay City’s quarterback. He threw zero interceptions en route.

Lestage supplied the lone Imlay City reception.

The Imlay City ground attack managed 182 yards on 36 totes.

Individually, Rojas (36 rushes for 149 yards) paced Imlay City. The remaining seven Spartan rushes netted a combined 33-yard gain.

Bryce Homer (seven) provided the highest Imlay City tackle total. Trystan Whiting, Brady Homer and Henry Schmidt (three each) made their presence felt as well.

The Imlay City defense also notched one takeaway. Lestage (an interception) managed that.

Imlay City will look to continue their winning ways when it hosts Yale this Friday. The Blue Water Area Conference game, Imlay City’s homecoming, lists a 7 p.m. starting time.
