Dryden lights up scoreboard in win over Brown City
DRYDEN — The Dryden football team outscored Brown City, 82-50, in a varsity football game last Thursday.
With the outcome, Dryden raises their mark to 2-0 overall. Brown City falls to 0-2 this season.
“We played a great game and our boys up front set the tone for us,” Dryden Coach Hunter Gall commented. “Brown City is a great program and I am proud of the fight we showed in the win,” he noted.
“We still have a lot to clean up so it is back to business as usual as we prepare for the coming weeks.”
Dryden produced its 82-point total aided by a Gianni Coscione to Santiago Perales 23-yard touchdown pass (followed by a Coscione PAT tote); a Coscione 29-yard touchdown run (followed by a Coscione PAT run); a Coscione 12-yard touchdown run; a Coscione to Perales 52-yard touchdown pass (followed by a Coscione PAT tote); a Coscione 60-yard touchdown run (followed by a Perales PAT tote); a Coscione to Luke Taylor 35-yard touchdown pass (followed by a Coscione to Brady Schneider PAT pass); a Coscione one-yard touchdown run; a Coscione two-yard touchdown run (followed by a Cooper PAT tote); a Schneider three-yard touchdown run (followed by a Coscione PAT tote); a Coscione to Perales 38-yard touchdown pass; and a Perales 73-yard kickoff return (followed by a Logan Korth PAT tote).
For the night, Coscione completed 10 of 12 pass plays for 230 yards as Dryden’s quarterback.
His successful tosses went to three different targets. Perales (five catches for 121 yards), Taylor (four receptions for 63 yards) and Luke Kage (one catch for 47 yards) formed that group.
The Dryden ground attack wound up with 364 yards on 36 totes.
Individually, Coscione (20 rushes for 291 yards) and Schneider (56 yards on 11 totes) generated Dryden’s top totals. The remaining five Cardinal rushes netted a combined 17-yard gain.
Schneider (in 18 stops) registered the highest Dryden tackle total. Taylor (10 stops), Coscione (in on nine tackles), Coscione (nine stops) plus Callum Brown and Quinten Towell (in on six stops each) made their presence felt as well.
The Dryden defense also registered a pair of takeaways. Perales (an interception) and Schneider (a fumble recovery) notched those.
Dryden returns to action this Friday with a road trip to Merritt Academy. That contest starts at 4:30 p.m.
