Almont has five among state’s best

ALMONT — Almont earned five spots on the Michigan High School Soccer Coaches Association Division 3 All-State lineup which was announced recently.

Lola Battaglia, a senior forward, headlined the group of Almont honorees.  She was a first team selection.

This spring Battaglia, the Blue Water Area Conference MVP,  provided Almont with 68 goals and 17 assists.

Callie McCarthy, a junior midfielder, attained All-State second team status.  She contributed 17 goals and  29 assists to Almont’s cause.

Anna LaBroski, who was chosen the BWAC’s Defensive MVP, garnered third team All-State accolades. The junior goalkeeper registered 12 shutouts this spring.

Natalia Radisavljevic garnered All-State honorable mention attention. The senior defender finished the year with six goals and nine assists.

Nora Yarbrugh landed a spot as an All-State honorable mention choice as well.  The junior midfielder completed the season with five goals and 17 assists.

With their help, Almont (16-5-1) won the BWAC regular season and tournament title, a Division 3 district championship and placed second at their regional.
