Almont threepeats as champions

ALMONT — The Almont girls’ soccer team (15-4-1) assured themselves of yet another top Division 3 district finish, accomplishing the feat with a 4-0 win against host Richmond (14-5-1) in the championship game last Thursday.
It marked the third straight district title for Almont and fourth in the last five years.
In Thursday’s championship game, Almont jumped out to a 2-0 advantage at the half.
Almont then followed it up with a 2-0 second half edge, putting the finishing touches on a 4-0 win.
Sophia Morfino (unassisted) and Lola Battaglia (set up by Lily Longo) provided Almont’s opening half goals.
Battaglia (assisted by Nora Yarbrough) and Natalia Radisavljevic (unassisted) generated Almont’s goals during half number two.
Anna LaBroski got the win in net for Almont. She was credited with six saves.
