Spartans win their own invitational

IMLAY CITY — The Imlay City varsity softball team put together a 3-0 mark, good for first place at an invitational it hosted last Saturday.

Imlay City began tournament play with an 11-1 win against Oakland Christian.

Alison Shafer (two singles and a double) paced Imlay City’s offensive attack. She was backed by Macie Stine (a double and a triple), Roslyn Bruman (two singles), Faith Schriber (a double) along with Makayla Bruman, Ava Nadrowski Brooke Walls and Leelyn Craven (a single each).

Roslyn Bruman was the winning Imlay City pitcher. She allowed four hits, struck out four and walked one.

Imlay City followed that up with a 17-0 victory over Capac.

Stine (two singles and a double), Montanna Eads (a single and a triple), Roslyn Bruman Craven, Shafer and Walls (two singles apiece), Makayla Bruman (a double) plus Addison Brown, Nadrowski and Schriber (a single each).

Imlay City’s pitcher of record was Stine. She did not relinquish a hit, struck out two and walked none en route.

The hosts then completed their unbeaten tournament run with a 10-4 triumph against Davison.

Stine (two singles and a triple), Roslyn Bruman (three singles), Craven (a single and a double), Nadrowski (two singles), Shafer (a double) along with Eads and Schriber (a single apiece) generated Imlay City’s hits.

Schriber was the winning Imlay City pitcher. She allowed five hits, struck out 11 and issued seven walks.
