Spartans take a first in Bad Axe

 

IMLAY CITY — The Imlay City varsity softball team went 2-0, paving the way to a first-place finish at a tournament hosted by Bad Axe last Saturday.

Imlay City started things off with an 11-1 win against Brown City.

Macie Stine (two home runs), Makayla Bruman and Faith Schriber (a single and a double each), Addison Brown (a double) along with Montanna Eads, Brooke Walls and Leelyn Craven (a single apiece) provided Imlay City’s hits.

Schriber was the winning Imlay City pitcher. She allowed three hits, struck out five and walked one.

Imlay City followed that up with a 15-5 championship game victory over Bad Axe.

Roslyn Bruman (four singles), Schriber (three singles), Stine (a single and a home run), Makayla Bruman (a single and a double), Ava Nadrowski and Craven (two singles each) plus Eads (a single) contributed Imlay City’s hits.

Schriber was Imlay City’s pitcher of record. She gave up eight hits, struck out 11 and issued no walks.
