Raiders sixth, Spartans seventh

TRI-CITY AREA — The Almont and Imlay City girls’ track squads placed sixth and tied for seventh, respectively, at the Blue Water Area Conference League Meet hosted by Armada on Tuesday, May 5.

North Branch (145 points) paced the field assembled. They were followed by Yale (129 points), Armada (101), Cros-Lex (72), Richmond (26), Almont (24) along with Imlay City and Algonac (14 each).

Lola Battaglia, 100 dash, 13.65 seconds; and Serena Evola, 300-meter hurdles, 53.99 seconds; led Almont with individual event fourths.

The Almont 1600 (Serena Evola, Shannon Zangara, Charlotte Verougstraete and Taylor Stanczak) and 3200 (Laila Evola, Serena Evola, Verougstraete and Zangara) relays generated fourths as well. It took them 4:49.34 and 11:30.41 respectively, to accomplish the feat.

Battaglia, 200-meter dash, 28.24 seconds; Stanczak, 400 dash, 1:07.57; and Laila Evola, 3200-meter run, 13:30.92; provided Almont with fifths.

Serena Evola, 100 hurdles, 19.42 seconds; tacked on a sixth for Almont.

Alex Robinson, 100-meter dash, 13.51 seconds; paced Imlay City with a second.

In addition to that, Robinson added a third with a 200 dash clocking of 28.11 seconds.
