Prusakiewicz to run for Indiana Tech

DRYDEN — Dryden’s Cara Prusakiewicz signed her letters of intent with the Indiana Tech women’s cross country and track programs recently.

In cross country, Prusakiewicz attracted their attention with a senior campaign which saw her generate a school record-setting time of 19:36.8 en route 12th at the Division 4 state finals on Saturday, November 8.

Michigan International Speedway, in Brooklyn is where the meet was contested.

For her performance, Prusakiewicz earned All-State accolades (reserved for the top-30 placewinners in the race).

The senior also claimed firsts at the Dryden Cardinal Classic; obtained seconds at the 57th Annual Holly Duane Raffin Festival of Races, Green Devil Invitational in Brown City, BTC Red/Blue League Meet hosted by Wagener Park and at a Wagener Park-based Division 4 regional; took fourth at the Hatchet Invitational in Bad Axe; and contributed a 25th at the Greater Flint Championship.

She also ended the season as a Tri-City Times All-Area first team selection.

Prusakiewicz also excelled as a member of Dryden’s track team last spring.

It was there she supplied a season’s-best clocking in the 3200-meter run, paving the way to third at the Marlette-based Get On Track Meet on Tuesday, May 20.

She also generated a first at the Third Annual Cardinal Classic in Dryden; claimed seconds at the Marlette Invitational and the Deckerville-based Big Thumb Conference Blue and Red Division League Meet; furnished thirds at the Akron-Fairgrove Invitational, Vassar-based Hurd Invite and at a Dryden-based Division 4 regional.

Prusakiewicz also was a part of Dryden’s successful 1600 relay which included Keira Miller, Claire Wright, Caila Fitchett and Mallory Barker throughout the course of the season.

There a lineup consisting of Keira Miller, Wright, Prusakiewicz and Fitchett produced a season-best time of 4:50 Tuesday, May 6 at a quad hosted by Mayville.

Dryden claimed a first at the Marlette-based Get On Track Meet and the Big Thumb Conference Blue and Red Division Meet in Deckerville; collected a third at the Third Annual Cardinal Classic in Dryden; obtained a fourth at a Dryden-based Division 4 regional; took eighth at the Vassar-based Hurd Invitational; supplied a ninth at the Marlette Invitational; plus added a 17th at the Shake Off the Rust Invitational in Davison.

Prusakiewicz was a Tri-City Times All-Area first team selection in both of those events.

She also joined forces with Miller, Wright and Fitchett to earn Tri-City Times All-Area second team accolades in the 3200-meter relay and appeared on the honorable mention portion of the Tri-City Times All-Area squad for her prowess in the 1600-meter run.
