Douglas “Doug” Jurn, 75

Douglas “Doug” Jurn, 75, of Avoca, Michigan, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, March 13, 2026.
He was born in Almont, Michigan on January 4, 1951, the son of Gordon and Mabel (Dahn) Jurn.
Douglas was a 1969 graduate of Capac High School. He worked for the grain elevator in Yale, Yale Cement and Block Company as a concrete truck driver, farmed the Jurn Family Farm, and was a custodian for the Yale Public School System. He enjoyed playing euchre, walking outdoors, and cutting grass.
He is survived by daughter, Kelly (Nathan) Wood of Hudsonville, MI; grandchildren, Madison Wood and Daniel Wood; mother of his only child, Judy (Schwalm) Jurn; his siblings, Deborah Harnden, Diane (Neil) Stegman, Duane Jurn, Donna Sonck, Deana (Bob) Sonner, Danine (Rob) Skoryanc, Denise (Craig) Foupht, and Dennis Jurn, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family would also like to thank Charles “Chuck” and Diane Wood of Avoca, Michigan, for all of the help and support they provided to Doug over the last 20-plus years.
He was preceded in death by parents, Gordon and Mabel (Dahn) Jurn; sister-in-law, Barb Jurn; two brothers-in-law, David Sonck and Donald “Don” Harnden; father-in-law, Maurice (Pete) Schwalm; and mother-in-law, Esther Schwalm.

Doug’s ashes will be placed at a later date near his parents’ gravesites at Pine Hill Cemetery on Hackman Road in Capac, Michigan. Cremation arrangements were entrusted to Kaatz Funeral Directors, Richmond.
