Capac places second in district

CAPAC — Capac watched their 2025-26 campaign reach an endpoint, dropping a 58-44 verdict to Sandusky in a Division 3 boys’ district basketball championship confrontation last Friday night.

Brown City High School is where the action unfolded.

With the decision, Sandusky improves to 16-7 overall. Capac finishes as owners of an 11-11 mark.

“We came out strong and followed the game plan,” Capac Coach Josh Harvey commented. “They hit some big shots, a few things didn’t go our way but we kept battling,” he noted.

“We went in to halftime facing a 17-point deficit and in the third quarter we were able to cut it down to eight. Our guys played their hearts out and for a stretch it felt like things were starting to turn in our favor. Sandusky is a very good team, though, and they were able to hold us off. I am proud of the effort our guys gave and wish Sandusky the best of luck the rest of the way.”

In Friday’s confrontation, Capac spotted Sandusky a 25-14 advantage after one quarter was complete.

Sandusky then followed it up with a 12-6 second quarter edge, widening the gap to 37-20 at halftime.

When the action resumed, Capac bounced back with a 17-8 third quarter advantage. That closed the gap to 45-37 with 24 minutes gone.

Sandusky then outscored Capac 13-7 the rest of the way, assuring themselves of a 58-44 win at night’s end.

Wiley Roose (14, including a trifecta) supplied the highest Capac point total. Boston Vock (12 points, featuring a trey) hit for double figures as well.

Capac had three other players reach the scoring column. Their ranks consisted of Austin Howard (nine points), Nick Delia (six, with a triple) and Collin Potter (a trifecta).
