Plans underway for IC Summer Fest

New activities; Salute to America takes center stage

 

IMLAY CITY — While August is still a ways away, and right now many of us wish it were as warm as a typical Summer Fest, the Imlay City Summer Fest Committee is already working hard at planning a fun-filled weekend and working towards another successful year at the festival!

Keeping in mind the good ‘ole USA celebrating her 250th birthday this year, the committee thought it was a natural fit to have the annual parade reflect that celebration, Imlay City style!

Floats, bands, fire trucks, ambulances, school busses, organizations and others wishing to take part in the parade are encouraged to begin planning now to shock hundreds of visitors with jaw-dropping entries.

Every year, the planning committee likes to add to the core of the festival and this year is no different.

In doing these things and keeping the festival as low cost and free as possible, we have to do some fundraising and sponsorships!!!

The first fundraiser of 2026 will be a new event, a golf outing, on May 17 at Castle Creek Golf Club.

Organizers are thrilled to have the day of golf as the kick off for the summer season! More details will be shared in the coming weeks on social media for the Imlay City Summer Fest.

The Summer Fest committee has also announced they are launching their brand new Mr. Sunshine and his family!!!

This year they will launch their very first contest in early spring and need YOUR help!

There will be three winners announced: Mr. Sunshine; Mrs. Sunshine and Baby Sunshine!! To register for this contest, and your chance to be recognized for your hard work and a ride in the parade as a special guest, email your name and position campaigning to icsummerfest@gmail.com and then hit the ground running for donations.

The person that turns in the most donated money to the festival will be crowned the winner in each category!!!

There is no limit to how many can be involved and we welcome everyone!!!
