Pietrzak, Peters qualify for finals

CAPAC — The Capac wrestling team qualified two grapplers to the Division 4 state finals scheduled for March 6-7 at Ford Field in Detroit.

They earned the right to compete there with top-four weight division placings last Saturday at a Whitmore Lake-based regional.

Kaleb Pietrzak paced Capac with a second. Pietrzak advanced to the 285-pound championship encounter where he was pinned by Hudson’s Malachi Marshall with 1:34 elapsed.

Gabe Peters secured Capac’s other placewinning effort, generating a fourth. Peters finished his stint at 106 pounds when he was pinned by Springport’s Joshua Jordan with 1:30 gone.
