Dryden wins their district opener

DRYDEN — Dryden earned a 56-34 win at Mayville’s expense in a Division 4 boys’ district basketball opening round clash Monday night.

Flint Beecher is where the game was contested.

With the outcome, Dryden (16-7) advances to Wednesday’s semifinals where it will square off against New Life Christian. That matchup lists a 7 p.m. starting time. Mayville watches an 11-12 season draw to a close.

In Monday’s clash, Dryden took a 16-10 edge after one quarter was over and led 23-18 at the half.

Dryden then outscored Mayville 33-16 the rest of the way, closing out a 56-34 win.

Gianni Coscione paced Dryden with 23 points. The Cardinals also had Luke Taylor (18 points), Rowan Handley (nine), Jax Morley (four) and Tyler Roberts (two) reach the scoring column.
