Spartans place five at BWAC individual

TRI-CITY AREA — The Imlay City and Almont wrestling teams pulled up sixth and eighth, respectively, at the Blue Water Area Conference Tournament last Saturday.
Yale is where the action unfolded.
When the final scores were announced, Yale’s 194.5-point total paced the field assembled. They were followed by Algonac (182), North Branch (161.5), Cros-Lex (123), Armada (109.5), Imlay City (81), Richmond (67) and Almont (seven).
Brady Czapiewski led Imlay City with a second that day. He reached the title match at 157 pounds where he was handed a 12-3 setback by North Branch’s Mason Bitters.
Daniel Rojas, Caleb Siracki and Scott Isaacson gave Imlay City thirds. Rojas completed 132-pound action by pinning Richmond’s Allen Fletcher with 1:55 gone; Siracki finished his stint at 144 pounds by pinning Richmond’s Ben Dittman with 2:26 elapsed; and Isaacson wrapped up 165-pound action by pinning North Branch’s Brayden Woodworth with 4:20 gone.
Alex Pettke rounded out the list of Imlay City’s placewinners, obtaining a fourth. Pettke ended 190-pound action with a 5-4 sudden victory loss to Algonac’s Kaleb Patterson.
Almont did not have any of their grapplers secure top-four weight class placings that day.
