Please be notified that the Village Planning Commission of Almont will hold a public hearing on Thursday, March 5, 2025 at 7:30 p.m., or as soon as possible thereafter as the matter may be heard, in the Almont Municipal Building located at 817 N. Main St., Almont, Michigan 48003 in order to consider amendments to the Village Zoning Ordinance. A summary of the amendments is listed below:
• Amendment of Section 6.01 of Article 6 by clarifying parking requirements in the C-1 District by allowing an administrative waiver of up to 20 required parking spaces per tenant when adequate public parking exists. The Planning Commission may grant additional relief if on-street or public parking can accommodate the use. Applicants may also seek a variance from the Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA).
• Amendment of Section 7.02 of Article 7 by removing Section 7.02.1.d which allowed the Planning Commission to delegate the responsibility of reviewing substantial changes in use to the Zoning Administrator.
• Amendment of Section 11.02 of Article 11 by clarifying the ZBA’s authority to hear appeals, including appeals of Planning Commission decisions on special land uses. The ZBA may grant an appeal only when one of the following findings is met:
1. The decision was arbitrary or capricious;
2. It was based on an erroneous finding of material fact;
3. It constituted an abuse of discretion; or
4. It was based on an erroneous interpretation of zoning law.

A copy of the proposed text that would amend the ordinance may be inspected at the Almont Village Offices located at 817 N. Main; Almont, MI 48003 during regular business hours, being between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. on regular business days. Written comments regarding this matter can also be received at the above listed address until the day of its consideration by the Planning Commission or Almont Village Council.
