Dryden prevails on buzzer-beater
DRYDEN — Hayden Blair converted an offensive rebound as time expired, lifting Dryden to a dramatic 61-59 road victory over Kingston in a Big Thumb Conference Blue Division varsity boys’ basketball matchup last Friday night.
With the decision, Dryden moves to 8-7 and 3-0. Kingston slips to 8-8 and 3-1.
In Friday’s matchup, Dryden and Kingston netted 12 points each during the opening quarter of play and were tied 26-26 at the half.
When the action resumed, Kingston struck with a 22-12 third quarter advantage. That left them holding a 48-38 lead at the time.
Dryden then bounced back with a 23-11 fourth quarter edge, pulling out a 61-59 victory.
Luke Taylor (18), Gianni Coscione (15) and Rowan Handley (10) led Dryden with double digit point totals. The Cardinals also received points courtesy of Brady Schneider (eight), Blair (four) along with Nick Abromaitis, Jax Morley and Tyler Roberts (two apiece).
