Spartans top Raiders, 76-44

TRI-CITY AREA — Imlay City handed host Almont a 76-44 setback in a Blue Water Area Conference varsity boys’ basketball matchup last Friday night.

With the outcome, Imlay City goes to 8-4 and 4-2 Almont slips to 6-5 and 3-3.

In Friday’s matchup, Imlay City bolted out to a 16-2 advantage after one quarter and increased their cushion to 32-16 at the half.

Imlay City then outscored Almont 44-28 the rest of the way, assuring themselves of a 76-44 victory at night’s end.

Isaac Sommer (21 points, including three trifectas), Jalen Gauthier (15, including a trifecta) and Hudson Everhart (12, with a triple) led Imlay City. They were backed by Trystan Whiting and Lavon Edwards (seven points, including a trifecta, each), Sam Edson (six, featuring a trey), Brady Detwiler (five) and Juan Salcedo (a triple).

Brody Corneau (22 points, featuring four treys) paced Almont that evening. The Raiders also had Blake Lane and Logan Schapman (five points, with a triple, each), Matthew Bacholzky (five), Noah Campbell (a trifecta) and Sean O’Neil (three) reach the scoring column.
