Imlay City turns back rival Almont

TRI-CITY AREA — Alexis Bruyere (37) and Makayla Bruman (nine) combined for 46 points, helping visiting Imlay City register a 54-42 road triumph against Almont in a Blue Water Area Conference varsity girls’ basketball encounter last Friday night.

With the decision, Imlay City improves to 7-3 and 4-2. Almont falls to 2-7 and 1-5.

In Friday’s encounter, Imlay City took a 15-13 edge after one quarter.

Almont then countered with a 12-8 second quarter advantage, good enough for a 25-21 lead at the halftime.

When the action resumed, Imlay City bounced back with a 20-10 third quarter advantage. That staked them to a 43-35 edge at the time.

Imlay City then outscored Almont, 11-7 the rest of the way, closing out a 54-42 triumph.

Savannah Douglas and Mackenzie Bruyere (three each) supplied the next highest Imlay City point totals. Roslyn Bruman added two points to the Spartans’ cause.

Madison Derk (15 points, including a pair of trifectas) and Rachael Johnson (10, featuring a pair of treys) proved Almont’s toughest players to stop. The Raiders also had Gabby Carlson (nine points), Emily Howard (six, with a triple) and Natalia Radisavljevic (two) connect.
