Spartan boys cruise to win at Genesee, 90-56

IMLAY CITY — Imlay City obtained a 90-56 win against host Genesee in a non-league varsity boys’ basketball meeting on Tuesday, December 23.

With the outcome, Imlay City goes to 5-3 overall. Genesee slips to 0-6 this season.

In Tuesday’s clash, Imlay City opened up a 23-10 lead after one quarter was complete.

Imlay City then outscored Genesee 43-30 during the middle two quarters, increasing their cushion to 66-40 with 24 minutes gone.

The visitors followed it up with a 24-16 fourth quarter edge, closing out a 90-56 victory.

Isaac Sommer (27 points), Jalen Gauthier (24), Ty Wagester (12) and Lavon Edwards (11) led Imlay City with double digit outputs. The Spartans also had Sam Edson and Hudson Everhart (five points each), Daniel Henning and Brady Detwiler (two apiece) plus Kamdyn Carmack and Xavier Galeana (one each) reach the scoring column.
