David Scott Mayer, 94

David Scott Mayer, 94, of Capac, passed away Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at McLaren Port Huron Hospital.

He was born July 16, 1931, in Allenton, the son of the late Peter and Viola (Scott) Mayer.

He married Helena Brodak on February 23, 1990, in Lapeer.

From an early age, David worked for local area vegetable farmers. He then worked for Almont Manufacturing in Imlay City for 20 years. He was a constable for Berlin Township and was chosen as “Constable of the Year” in 1970. He was also a member of the Berlin Township Volunteer Fire Department. David finished out his career as a Police Officer for the Village of Capac for 25 years before retiring in 1993. He loved hunting, fishing, shooting skeet and trapping, as well as bowling.

Surviving in addition to his wife, Helena of 35 years, are two sons and daughters-in-law, Randy (Nicole) Mayer and Tracy (Rita) Mayer; seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and 1 great, great-granddaughter; and his brother, Delmar Mayer.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Debbie White, and a brother, Roderick Mayer.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in honor of David.

Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Kaatz Funeral Directors, Capac.
