Chiefs improve to 7-2 on season

CAPAC — The Capac wrestling team improved to 7-2 overall and 4-0 versus Big Thumb Conference adversaries with a pair of wins last Wednesday.

Brown City High School is where the action unfolded.

Capac started their successful evening on the mats with a 48-34 victory over Brown City.

A group consisting of Isabella Chapa, Madison Clark, Sam Schneider, Preston Vamvas, Zachary Stroup, Thomas Clowers and Connor Powers led Capac with victories via the pinfall route. Isabella Chapa took 1:58 to stop Amelia Herzog at 106 pounds; Clark required 3:23 to conquer 120-pound foe Isabella Holloway; Schneider needed 47 seconds to beat Ayden Calderon at 138 pounds; Vamvas took 58 seconds to defeat 144-pound counterpart Max Trombley; Stroup required 43 seconds to down Daniel Mulholland at 165 pounds; Clowers needed 1:06 to beat 175-pound adversary Keegan Quant; and Connor Powers took 30 seconds to turn back Jack Gingell at 190 pounds.

Gabe Peters (113) added a triumph by void to Capac’s cause.

Capac then closed out their two-match stint with a 75-6 triumph against Elkton Pigeon Bay Port Lakers.

Isabella Chapa (106), Peters (113), Clark (120), Luca Longo (126), Alberto Chapa (132), Schneider (138), Liam Powers (144), Ava Klink (165), Stroup (175), Clowers (190), Connor Powers (215) and Francisco Navarro (285) provided Capac with wins by void.

Vamvas was the other Capac grappler who emerged victorious, accomplishing the feat with a 20-14 triumph against Jesse Renn at 144 pounds.
