Raiders start season with a victory

ALMONT — Amont turned back Armada, 40-26, in a non-league girls’ basketball confrontation on Tuesday, December 9.

With the outcome, Almont improves to 1-0 overall.

In Tuesday’s confrontation, Almont grabbed a 4-3 edge after one quarter was complete.

The middle two quarters saw Almont manage 25 total points and Sterling Heights Stevenson generate 13, increasing their lead to 29-16.

Almont then outscored Sterling Heights Stevenson 11-10 the rest of the way, closing out a 40-26 win.

Vivian Asaro (11, including a trifecta) and Madi Derk (11) posted the top Almont point totals. They were backed by Rachael Johnson (nine, featuring a trey), Gabby Carlson (seven) and Natalia Radisavljevic (two).
