Capac tops Peck, 58-20

CAPAC — Capac handed Peck a 58-20 setback in a non-league varsity football meeting last Friday night.

With the result, Capac improves to 7-2 overall. Peck watches a 5-4 season draw to a close.

In Friday’s meeting, Capac jumped out to a 14-12 advantage after one quarter was done and widened the gap to 36-12 at the half.

Capac then outscored Peck 22-8 the rest of the way, finishing off a favorable 58-20 verdict.

The winning Capac side generated their 58-point total aided by a Sam Schneider 10-yard touchdown run; a Schneider 17-yard touchdown run (followed by a Peyton Frankowiak PAT tote); a Gabe Peters 29-yard touchdown run (followed by Frankowiak PAT tote); a Brody Tesnow to Wiley Roose 35-yard touchdown pass; a Schneider 58-yard touchdown run (followed by a Frankowiak PAT tote); a Seth Turner 42-yard interception return for a touchdown (followed by a Frankowiak PAT tote); and a Schneider 16-yard touchdown run.

For the night, Tesnow connected on five of nine pass plays for 68 yards as Capac’s quarterback. He threw one interception along the way.

His successful tosses went to four different targets. Roose (two catches for 45 yards), Boston Vock and Bussone (one reception for eight yards each) plus Turner (one catch for seven yards) formed that group.

The Capac ground attack added 324 yards on 28 totes.

Individually, Schneider (18 rushes for 250 yards) and Bussone (42 yards on eight totes) proved Capac’s toughest players to stop. The remaining two Chief rushes resulted in a combined 32-yard gain.

Bussone (six solos and four assists), Roose (five solos and five assists), Peters (seven solos and two assists) and Schneider (five solos and four assists) provided Capac’s top tackle totals. Turner (six solos), Frankowiak (two solos and four assists) and Bryce Lietz (two solos and three assists) made their presence felt as well.

The Capac defense also registered two takeaways that evening. Zach Stroup and Turner (an interception apiece) furnished those.

Capac will look to continue their winning ways this Friday when it travels to face Brown City in a regional semifinal playoff clash for 8-player Division 1 schools. That confrontation is slated to get underway at 7:30 p.m.
