Imlay City falls to Cros-Lex, 42-7

IMLAY CITY — Imlay City was handed a 42-7 setback by visiting Cros-Lex in a Blue Water Area Conference varsity football game last Friday night.

With the outcome, Cros-Lex moves to 3-4 and 3-3. Imlay City slips to 2-5 and 1-5.

In Friday’s game, Imlay City spotted Cros-Lex a 14-0 advantage after one quarter and trailed 27-7 at the half.

When the action resumed, Cros-Lex picked up where it left off. Thanks to a 15-0 third quarter edge, the Pioneers widened the gap to 42-7.

That was followed by a scoreless fourth quarter of play.

Imlay City generated their seven-point total aided by a Brady Homer five-yard touchdown run (followed by an extra point kick courtesy of Luis Martinez).

For the evening, Brady Homer completed five of 16 pass plays for 51 yards as Imlay City’s quarterback. He threw zero interceptions en route to those numbers.

His successful tosses were distributed to four different targets. Eddie Dervishi (two catches for 14 yards), Brett Lestage (one reception for 31 yards), Henry Schmidt (one catch for five yards) and Daniel Rojas (one reception for one yard) formed that group.

The Imlay City ground attack wound up with 30 rushes for 152 yards. Brady Homer (101 yards on 19 totes) and Rojas (11 rushes for 51 yards) made that output possible.

Rojas (nine) posted Imlay City’s highest tackle total. He was backed by Quinten Towell and Lestage (six stops each).

The Imlay City defense also registered one takeaway. Bryce Homer (an interception) provided that.

Imlay City will look to bounce back this Friday when it hosts Armada. The Blue Water Area Conference clash is slated to get underway at 7 p.m.
