Hatred and violence against churches

Years ago country singer Sonny James sang “What in the Worlds Come over You”, a song about a love relationship. Now I use that song title referring to our world. Churches used to be a place of contemplation, safety and prayer. What’s gone wrong?

Scripture tells us to love everyone – even our enemies. But we don’t need to like everyone. Seems now that “dislike” cannot be simply expressed by ignoring those we don’t like. Now in the world some people act out dislike as hatred and violence against religion.

In the past, Catholics, Jews were targets of extremists groups like Klu Klux Klan even genuine contempt by some Protestant sects. While these such have faded into the sunset, individuals with unknown personal agendas have sprung up as in numerous church desecrations, bombings, shootings etc. with no reason or rhyme.

I don’t have an answer. If I did I would write a book making a 7 figure reward. I don’t. We say “prayer” but that doesn’t seem to do anything. God gave us free will; that seems to be our society’s downfall. “Nones” (not the ones wearing habits) ascribe no faith in God, but have become the bane of religion. Only about 30% of people attend church regularly. Once we abandon Higher Values, as God, is this our reward? We must still pray; urge friends and neighbors about faith in Jesus Christ. I hope I am not grasping at straws!
