Capac rolls to convincing victory

CAPAC — Capac rolled to a 42-0 victory over host Potterville in a non-league boys’ varsity football encounter last Thursday.

With the decision, Capac moves to 1-0 overall. Potterville slips to 0-1 this season.

“Tonight was a great start to the season,” Capac Co-Coach Troy Schneider commented. “The offensive line played well and the defensive line we had a great effort from a number of players,” he noted.

“This was a true team effort.”

In Thursday’s contest, Capac bolted out to a 14-0 advantage after one quarter was over and widened the gap to 28-0 at halftime.

When the action resumed, Capac picked up where it left off. Aided by a 14-0 third quarter edge, the Chiefs went up 42-0 with 36 minutes gone.

The remainder of the game was scoreless, leaving Capac with a victory to celebrate at night’s end.

Capac accumulated their winning 42-point total aided by a Sam Schneider one-yard touchdown run; a Schneider 12-yard touchdown run (followed by a PAT tote by Gabe Peters); a Brody Tesnow to Boston Vock 56-yard touchdown pass; a Schneider one-yard touchdown run (followed by a Gabe Peters PAT tote); a Tesnow to Bryce Lietz 11-yard touchdown pass; and a Tesnow to Lietz 41-yard touchdown pass (followed by a PAT tote by Brendan Bussone).

For the night, Tesnow completed six of 10 pass plays for 133 yards as Capac’s quarterback. He threw one interception along the way

His successful tosses went to two different targets. Their ranks consisted of Lietz (four catches for 67 yards) and Boston Vock (two receptions for 66 yards).

The Capac ground attack chewed up 299 yards of territory on 39 totes.

Schneider (18 rushes for 208 yards) paced Capac. The remaining 21 Chief rushes netted a combined 81-yard gain.

Zack Stroup (nine assisted stops), Schneider (two solos and five assists), Seth Turner (two solos and three assists) and James Owens (five assists) supplied Capac’s top tackle totals.

The victorious Capac side also registered a pair of takeaways. Rodden Vock and Schneider (an interception each) furnished those.

Capac returns to action this Friday when it hosts Kingston. That matchup lists a 7 p.m. starting time.
