Town Hall meeting set for discussion

Imlay City officials to gather information on possible move

 

IMLAY CITY — The Imlay City Commission has announced they intend to receive public input on whether or not they should move city services to the Lamb Steele Building.

Currently, the police department is in the lower half of Lamb Steele and the Senior Citizen Center occupies the top half.

Preliminary discussion has been held in regards to city hall offices moving their operations to Lamb Steele and the Senior Citizen Center moving into the current city hall.

“We’d like to get feedback from the public,” Mayor Pro-Tem Bob Tanis said at the August 19 commission meeting. “Nothing is set in stone and no vote has been taken. We just want to find out what residents think about it.”

In an effort to gather public input, the commission will conduct a Town Hall Meeting on Tuesday, September 16 at 7 p.m. in the Commission Chambers on N. Main St.

Notice is hereby given that the Imlay City Board of Commissioners will hold a TOWN HALL MEETING on Tuesday, September 16, 2025 at 7:00 p.m. in the Imlay City Chambers at 150 N. Main Street, Imlay City, MI 48444.

The informational meeting is to hear comment on the feasibility to consider the relocation of the City of Imlay City Hall and offices from 150 N. Main, to the Imlay City Public Safety (Lamb Steele) Building 395 E. 3rd Street and to explore the option of relocating the Lapeer County Senior Services Program currently located at 395 E 3rd Street, to a building of their own that the Senior Services Program will not have to share, at 150 N. Main Street in the City of Imlay City.

Anyone wishing to comment on this item and unable to attend the meeting may send their comments in writing to Imlay City Commission at 150 N. Main Street, Imlay City, MI 48444.

Written public comments must be be submitted by Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at 4:00 p.m.
