Extending my heartfelt thanks to you all

Dear Editor,

To All My Co-Workers Past and Present, My Supervisors, the Lapeer County Road Commission, the Almont School Board, former Superintendent Mr. Zott, present Superintendent Kimberly VonHiltmayer, and the Almont Community:

I want to extend my heartfelt thanks for the overwhelming recognition I received this year in honor of my 50 years of driving school bus. From the thoughtful article in the Tri-City Times this spring, to the wonderful celebration at the end of the school year, and the many kind words shared with me throughout the summer, I have felt deeply appreciated.

I am especially humbled by the decision to name a road/lane after me, as well as the statewide recognition from our elected officials. These honors go far beyond anything I ever expected when I first began my career behind the wheel, and I will carry them with me always. One of the greatest joys of this work has been the privilege of watching so many children grow up through the years – and now seeing many of them with families of their own.

To all of my co-workers, supervisors, the Road Commission, school leadership past and present, and the entire Almont community – thank you for your support and kindness through the years. You have made this journey meaningful and rewarding. I appreciated the kind words from former Superintendent Mr. Zott and current Superintendent Ms. VonHiltmayer. You both have proven what great leadership can do in a district.

A very special thank you goes to Jo Tessmer, whose hard work and dedication brought so much of this recognition together.

I am proud to have served our students and our community for five decades, and I am grateful beyond words for the memories and friendships made along the way.
