Imlay City wraps up its camp season

IMLAY CITY — The Imlay City wrestling team wrapped up a busy summer camp season recently.

They started things off with five of the Imlay City wrestling club members attending the Jeff Jordan State Champ Youth Camp from June 6-8.

For their second camp of the summer, Imlay City hosted over 100 K-12 athletes from June 11-13. Thirty of the athletes were Spartans in grades K-12 who received instruction from college coaches hailing from Michigan State, Southern Illinois University, University of Minnesota and Olivet.

From June 15-19, seven Spartans in grades 7-12 went to Urbana, Ohio to train for five days at the Jeff Jordan State Champ Camp.

Four days later, five of Imlay City’s high school team members traveled to Spring Arbor University to participate in the FCA Wrestling Camp.

Imlay City’s final camp of the summer was hosted by the 12-time stare champion Hudson Tigers. It was there 18 Spartans in grades K-12 trained.

Spartan Coach Brandon Day would like to thank the ICCS School Board, Administration and ICHS wrestling parents for allowing the student-athletes to participate in these skill and team-building activities.

Day went on to say he is excited to offer more opportunities in the future so the kids can reach their potential as student-athletes.
